What types of projects can you handle?
We produce a wide range of printed materials: hard and soft cover books, catalogues, directories, magazines, calendars, board games, posters, postcards, banners, bags, and many different kinds of promotional items.
Regardless of the type of print project you have in mind, we urge you to get in touch with us to see if we can help. If your project falls outside of our normal scope, we’d be happy to lean on our experience in the business to refer you to one of our peers that may be better equipped to serve your needs.
Some examples of common requests that we may not produce are apparel, giant format printing (like billboards and automobile wraps), and fine art reproductions.
What’s the typical savings?
While it’s not unusual for a customer to cut their costs in half when they switch to HX from a domestic printer, savings is usually more in the 25-35% range.
The nature of the project (straightforward versus highly customized) as well as the quantity are two important factors in the ultimate cost of the project.
Is there any size job that would be considered too small or too large?
We’re best able to deliver meaningful cost savings when a project is at least $10,000.00 (U.S.) in total investment. Most of our work exceeds that level, but not necessarily all, so we’re happy to discuss an idea to see if HX is a good fit.
In terms of how large, we product many jobs between $100,000.00 and $1,000,000.00 (U.S.), and with our experienced team, proven process, and state-of-the-art facilities, there’s no reason we can’t go beyond that.
How long does it usually take?
Typical production time is about four to six weeks from agreement to receipt of the completed product. That said, turnaround time is certainly impacted by the type and quantity of a project, as well as your preferred method of shipping. Actual production at our facilities may take a week or two, depending on the nature of the job. Our factories often operate around-the-clock to accommodate our workflow and customers’ timing expectations.
Shipping usually represents the longest piece. Ocean freight is by far the most economical way; it normally takes anywhere from two to four weeks to travel from Asia to the U.S., including Customs; delivery to other countries may vary slightly depending on the location/distance and regulations. The more expensive route is air (either partial or full shipment, depending on what you need). Expedited air freight can take as little as two or three days to get to the States, but you obviously pay for that convenience.
Once we have your final approval of the proofs, we’ll provide a production schedule for your project with estimated printing, binding/finishing (if necessary), and shipping dates so you know exactly what’s going on and when to expect delivery.
What are your terms/Ts and Cs?
First, in terms of payment, we get started when we’ve received a 50% deposit for your job. The remaining balance must then be paid in order for your bulk shipment to leave the port in Asia en route to your specified point(s) of delivery.
While we consider our quality and service to be anything but common, our terms are based on what’s standard throughout the industry. Since our clients provide the artwork on which the finished printed product is based, they are 100% responsible for the accuracy of their content. Proofs will be emailed or delivered and must receive client sign-off before production begins. Changes outside the normal points in the process (e.g., once the proof is approved) will incur additional charges beyond the original project estimate. Final quantity shipped and billed will be within five percent above or below the original order.
Of course, we trust that all artwork submitted by the client is in full compliance with the laws governing copyright and/or trademark, and HX will assume no liability should that not be the case.
That covers the key points. Our contract is, naturally, a bit more detailed, but for the most part it’s straightforward. If you’re evaluating print vendors and you want to see our actual documents, please just let us know and we’ll be happy to share and discuss everything with you.
Ultimately, we aim to make sure you’re completely aware of – and comfortable with – how we do business.
Where are your facilities?
Asia—specifically China and other countries in the East—dominates the global manufacturing industry. Our main production plant and equipment are in Guangzhou, China, just outside Hong Kong. The members of our Chinese production team all live in that area.”
We also have operations in Northern China.
In addition to our international components of our team, our senior management frequently travels abroad to personally oversee and inspect our work.
What happens if it’s not right?
In many ways, printing is a commodity. If you’re not thrilled with our pricing, you’ll go somewhere else, so we’ll know that early on.
But quality is subjective, and we’ve built our business on the promise of simultaneously delivering exceptional quality and value.
At any point, from the first checkpoint when you see a proof or prototype, to when you take final delivery, if you are not completely satisfied with the results, we encourage you to contact our team directly so we can assess the scope of the issue and determine a resolution together.
